I guess most of you haven’t heard about my secret porn blog which is hosted on blogspot. It currently gets over 40 visitors a day and I make a small income of $9 every month. The reason I like it so much is because I haven’t done any promotion for it, that is why I say that adult webmasters find seo really easy. I just put up some content and got it indexed on search engines and the next moment i was getting over 40 visitors and making over $9. I’m pretty sure that I’ll make a lot more once I start promoting it full time.
One major problem which small adult webmasters like me experience is monetization, you will be able to make thousands of dollars once you grow, but making the fist few hundreds is the toughest. Most of the adult sites that are free to use are tough to monetize, as the key audience for such sites will be 14 – 25 and most of them won’t have a credit card and rarely click on ads. Below are some of the best ways to monetize your adult site, I can’t guarantee a huge income, but if you keep reinvesting it and growing your site, your sure to make a huge income.
Premium content
This is the method used by most of the adult sites and many of them make millions every month, but this requires premium and well quality content, staff and technology which can take thousands of dollars of investment. So this is not an option for small webmasters, but you can use this method if you have a unique idea and something that would not cost much. You’ll have to have an affiliate program and you’ll also be required to advertise of other sites.
The best way to promote your site will be to make short trailers and summaries of your content and post it on all social sharing sites and let your visitors see this content for free and persuade them to pay for the full version.
Affiliate programs
Adult affiliate programs are increasingly getting popular and profitable and many times webmasters claim it to be more profitable than selling premium content. Of course, it can be more profitable than premium content, as instead of selling one or two memberships, you can sell tens of them for other sites using your affiliate links.
Most of the frequent porn surfers love free content and when they get the best of it, they don’t mind clicking on some ad and signing – up for another site. Most of the fast paced porn sites give away free videos, images and other content which you can post on your site. This way you’ll be increasing the quality of your site and generating leads to your affiliates. Banner and text ads
There are very few ad networks which concentrate on the adult niche and most them have the capacity to monetize less than 25% of your inventory. These networks also pay very less, most of them pay less than $0.20 for thousand views, so try to use as many networks as possible and use an adserver to fill up your inventory.
I personally use BlackLableAds, Seekmo and Zango, which helps me monetize almost 75% of my traffic. I use affiliate programs to monetize the rest. You can also use low profile networks such as Adengage, which has high concentration of adult ads.
Direct advertising
Whatever your niche might be, I’m always an advocate of direct advertising. Once your sites traffic touches 20,000 monthly visitors, create an ad rate card and an advertise here page to sell ads directly on your site. Send mails to many other networks who are willing to buy ads on an adult site, the key here is to present an attractive offer to a small advertiser.
If your site is managed on WordPress then you’ll have plenty of options to sell ads easily by automating the process, if not its recommended that you join a network.
Donations
Adult sites usually get the most public donations and many webmasters make thousands from that. But if your planning to take public donations make sure you don’t put too many ads on your site and good quality content for free is what your audience would admire. Your audience will definitely donate small amounts of money to keep your site running, but in case you stop updating your site, your going to face a lot of ire.
Your not likely to make money like how Wikipedia does, so don’t ever depend on this for meeting your expenses unless your site is a really popular hub in the industry.

Very good tips. You are right and the only problem webmasters face is information and research. With tons of noise and less real stuff one needs to keep up to date on trends and find the best ways to monetize. Every second guy has a free adult site nowadays. Some have quality, others quantity and then the bulk of the rest TGP sites. How do you beat them? I have been doing free adult sites or (not “adsense qualified” type of sites) for 3 years and it took me very long to realize that I make tons now which I could have made for 3 years ! Definitely good webmasters need a helping hand.
