Make money with a URL shortener – adf.ly

I’m never really interested in writing make money online articles, but sometimes I do write it when I find something very innovative or unique, recently I saw an interesting link cloaked with a URL shortener, when I clicked on it I was shown an ad and on the top there was a button called skip this ad. After seeing the same ad 3 to 4 times I recognized that this ad was actually played by a url shortening service.

I went to the site and quickly signed up, it claimed that it would pay $2 for thousand views which is pretty high. After signing up, I was a bit hesitant to try it on my blog promotion as I felt users would not visit my site and instead would go back to where I had placed my link, but I still thought of giving it a try.

On the next day I posted shortened links of my site everywhere that is forums, on comments as well as on my own blog. I was worried that my bounce rate would be high or my traffic would fall, but that did not happen, my traffic rose by 12% and my bounce rate rose by just 1%, which is pretty good.

I’ve been using it from 3 days now and my earnings are almost reaching $2. Adf.ly allows a PayPal payment option with a minimum payment threshold of just $5, so I’m sure I’ll earn more than $12 per month through this. The earnings may not be a lot, but I can easily pay for my one months hosting through it.

I think using such services on your blog is not a good idea, so its recommended that you use it on a separate Twitter account. I don’t find the ads that appear very annoying to the users, I haven’t asked any Dumb Little Blogger user yet, so if you’ve seen the interstitial ads which appeared on my links just tell me what you feel about it.
