Twitter can generate a hell lot of traffic and can take your blog really viral with just a few retweets, but a few initial ones are usually the toughest. Most bloggers who are successful in tapping into Twitter use the method of onsite exposure and a powerful account to build traffic through Twitter, currently I’m doing half of both and till now I haven’t had much of success. If you have observed a few of my previous posts you’ll notice that a few selected ones have a huge retweet rates but others have less 2, well I didn’t get those huge retweet rates organically, and this not one of my spammy methods either .

Recently I stumbled on this site named Retweet.it, which is a retweet exchange site, I gave it a try and it has worked perfectly, not only did this improve my retweets, but also resulted in huge growth of followers.

How does this exactly work?

This is a simple to understand service, after signing up with your Twitter account their are a few submissions which you must retweet in order to earn points after you earn a few points you can submit your own tweet and get them retweeted with the help of your points. In case you don’t have the time to sit around and retweet others articles for points you always the option for paying for retweets, which is pretty cheap.

How I use this to build my traffic?

I bet most of you have the idea on how I build my traffic through this, so I will discuss about some tips and tricks in using this service. This isn’t direct spamming as you’ll be spamming a bit on Twitter and thats not going affect anyone. This is a easy to use service, within just a few minutes I had retweeted almost all of their directory listings and had earned upto 83 points which i spent on submitting two of my best posts.

Many people claimed that this is a spammy service and I’m sure that I’ll find a few comments on this post too, but what I want all of you to see is the big blogs and the front page of Tweetmeme and ask yourself that is it ever possible for you to gain so many retweets, if the answer is yes you are free to follow the old ethical path and if no then I truly recommend that you go ahead with this one.

The service requires you to have upto 50 followers, which is the most easy to gain levels, you can use other Twitter apps for this and if you use this service actively your sure to see a huge spike in your followership level. It is not wise to promote your home page or any other page on this service, this will result in very less conversions, submit only a few of your best posts and pay credits for that as those are somethings which perform best on Twitter.

For those of you who are still having a feeling that this is unethical, I have a solution for you too, instead of blindly retweeting whatever you find their in their browse page, you retweet only the ones which you think will be of value to your readers. This will not lead to much credits and it will definitely not allow you to trigger a viral chain, but I’m sure you’ll get God’s blessings .
